9 Jan 2021 - Masjid is closed again

We are sad to announce that due to increasing cases in London and local area the masjid management has decided to close the masjid from 9th Jan 2021 until further notice.

Although government guidelines allow places of worship to remain open as per guideline issued on 31 Dec 2020, the covid situation in the immediate vicinity has forced us to take this unfortunate decision. We will review the decision every now often and at least once a week and will try to resume our services as soon as possible.

Public will not be allowed to enter the masjid for Jumah or jamaat of regular salahs although the imam and people in his bubble may pray inside.

2020 - JUNE

Tuesday 16 June 2020 - Re-opening of Bilal Masjid

Welcome Back!

The government has partially lifted restrictions on places of worship to allow “Individual prayers” from 15 June 2020. But the primary function of mosques is to facilitate collective worship for the Muslim community.

Like other Mosques in the UK, we are waiting for the clear guidance for the re-opening of mosques they can hold congregational prayers. Once this has been given, Bilal Masjid can then consider how best to open for the five daily prayers, whilst the ensuring the safety and well being of worshipers.

At Bilal Mosque, we have been liaising closely with other mosques and Muslim organisations across London and throughout the UK, to prepare for eventual reopening.

Covid-19 remains a threat to the lives of vulnerable people, especially those in BAME (Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic) communities, who have been disproportionally affected.

The safety and well-being of our congregation is of paramount concern; as individual prayers can just as well be performed at home, our mosque, like many others, will not be opening for individual prayers on 15 June

We will keep the situation under review in the days and weeks ahead. We thank our community for their patience & understanding.

2020 - MARCH

Thursday 19 March 2020

Temporary closure of  Bilal Masjid to the public due to coronavirus pandemic

19 March 2020 – Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings on His final messenger, Muhammad ﷺ. We ask Allah to grant us patience, to strengthen our reliance on Him, and to increase us in our faith and good deeds.

In line with the most recent advice from the Government, from medical professionals in our community, and after very careful consideration by our   Imams in consultation with Islamic scholars and trustees', committee members & other Mosques and centres, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend public access to the Bilal Masjid, including for all prayers and Jumuah (Friday prayer), beginning Thursday 19 March 2020. We will continue to broadcast the adhan, insha’Allah.

We will keep the situation under constant review, and ensure our congregation is informed through our website and social media, insha’Allah. We are also putting measures in place so that our community can get in touch with the Mosque, and we’re looking at ways the Mosque can give support to the vulnerable in our community. May Allah help us all in this time of trial; we should turn to Him in increased devotion through prayer, dua and reading the Qur’an.
